Satdarshan (Paul) Singh Monga, SVC Professor of Pathobiology and Therapeutics, School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, received the prestigious 2027 Rous-Whipple Award American Society for Investigative Pathobiology (ASIP)
Monga is also professor of pharmacology, Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology; associate dean of research; director of the Pittsburgh Liver Research Center; and director of the Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute, School of Medicine.
The award is presented to a senior scientist with a distinguished career in research who has advanced the understanding of disease and has continued productivity at the time of the award, including impactful science, teaching, mentorship, leadership in the field of pathology and contributions to the society.
“I am humbled by this recognition by the ASIP, especially knowing the past recipients of this incredible honor,” Monga said. “Being acknowledged by our peers for our fundamental discoveries and potential applications into the clinic is truly gratifying and reassuring. I hope to continue to meaningfully contribute to the understanding of complex liver diseases for improved clinical outcomes, while mentoring trainees and serving our institution and national societies like ASIP.”
ASIP announced the award during its recent annual meeting in Fort Myers, Florida. It will be presented during the meeting “Pathobiology 2027: Mechanisms of Disease” in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 1 to 4.
