Liron Pantanowitz, Dr. Maud L. Menten Professor of Pathology and chair, and Matthew G. Hanna, associate professor of pathology and vice chair of pathology informatics, Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, were both selected to receive a 2025 College of American Pathologists (CAP) Pathology Advancement Award.
Pantanowitz and Hanna are being awarded for their leadership in advancing digital and computational pathology. Pantanowitz is recognized for developing a globally adopted guideline that enabled remote diagnostics during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Hanna is recognized for integrating artificial intelligence into clinical practice to enhance accuracy, streamline workflows and improve patient care.
“These awards showcase the expertise and caliber of pathology informaticists working at Pitt, where the work we do has a significant impact globally by leveraging technology to provide better pathology care,” Pantanowitz said.
They will be honored at CAP25, CAP’s annual meeting, in September 2025.
