I really got to know the city better during second look weekend when they invite all their interviewees back. The students put on the whole thing. We took a tour of different student apartments to see what you can afford. We did a pub-crawl. Explored downtown and the Strip. I actually met my roommate that week.
Before I accepted, I knew there was a part of me thinking, Wouldnt it be much cooler to go to medical school in Boston or New York City? But Ive since decided that Pittsburgh is the perfect size. Its big enough without being overwhelming. The choices for how to spend free time are always therea Broadway show or a Saturday art class. Ohiopyle State Park and white water rafting is an hour away. There are bike trails everywhere. I had a real misperception of Pittsburgh coming from Rochester. I think its an underrated city a lot of people are still hung up on this pre-1970s image of a dirty old steel town and its just not that at all.
