We have a great opportunity to go and follow physicians around.

Medical students here have a great opportunity to go and follow physicians around, see what’s out there—there’s every single specialty and sub specialty here. As third and fourth years we have to do rotations — there’s so many hospitals here we don’t have to leave Pittsburgh unless we want to and then we can go abroad somewhere. Some schools are forced to send their students here. A lot of students come from Philadelphia area because they have so many medical schools and not as many hospitals, so they have to send their students over here.

I can stay here and do all my rotations and for lifestyle reasons that’s a lot better. Also, you get to develop better relations with people. Here you have a chance to follow them whenever you want and I think that would help you when you apply for residencies — people will write recommendations for you — things like that.
