To your right is someone from Harvard and to your left is someone from Princeton.

I was just so excited and so scared. I remember looking around the stage full of about 145 other people and thinking, “How did I end up here?” To your right is someone who went to Harvard and to your left is someone from Princeton and here I am this girl from the backwoods. What you don’t realize is the person who went to Harvard is looking at you and thinking, “Oh my gosh, she’s got a masters degree—I came here straight out of college. It’s all very intimidating and exciting at the same time. I just wished my mom were there.

What makes Pitt really cool and different is that they help mark the beginning—your first day as a future doctor. Other schools don’t give you your white coat until you start your third year, so it really emphasizes the fact that at Pitt you are going to be a doctor from day one. And with that comes a set of responsibilities and a set of skills that they are going to train you on from day one.
