Pittsburgh's got a up-and-coming music scene.

I looked upon the interview process as my one chance to really get to know each city. The issue of what kind of place I was going to spend the next four years in was every bit as important to me as the school itself. Pittsburgh immediately reminded me of my hometown, Providence, Rhode Island. Both cities are underrated—too small to show up on some people’s radar but filled with all of these great microcosms and cultures.

I love “inde” rock and Pittsburgh’s got a real up-and-coming music scene. Every part of the city seems to have its musical treasure. Gooski’s pub in Polish Hill is one of those little hole-in-the-wall joints that nobody notices. But I’ve been to a lot of places and let me tell you, Gooski’s may just have the best punk rock and rockabilly juke box in the entire world...
