Diversity: Person-to-Person
Our Person-to-Person approach to teaching medicine revolves around the patient. Before you can make a difference as a doctor, you first must appreciate both the remarkable similarities and subtle distinctions between individuals. That means learning to give each patient the respect and dignity thats due them as a human being.
It also means that in order to treat the patient as a person, you must remain a person too. Its that daily exchange of mutual regardwith patients, families, students, faculty and administratorsthat makes the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine a different kind of medical school.
Making It Happen
There is little diversity in the American physician workforce. The American Association of Medical Colleges
and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine want to change that. The Office of Diversity
Programs works closely with current and prospective students, as well as future medical school
candidates to see that this goal becomes reality.
Were here to assist you, even before we receive your application for admission. And if you're offered an interview, well be here to greet you and guide you through the process. Well get to know you and your situation and serve as an advocate and resource.
We get behind a students desire to become a physician with heart, body and mindand expect you to do the same.
