General Requirements How to Apply The Interview How To Get Here
A big part of being a doctor is being a person who can connect. If you can't connect, not only can you not communicate with a patient, but you can't derive from the patient the necessary historical information to proceed, to do your job as a physician. Dr. Edward Curtiss, Associate Dean of Admissions

Selection Factors

We take measure of your desire and ability to interact with people. Because a large portion of your studies will be conducted in collaborative learning situations, you’ll be interacting with patients from day one, and success in this environment depends upon you personally valuing the person-to-person approach as much as we do.

But don't think it’s easy, like other top-rated medical schools, we seek students with clear signs of native intellect and an excellent academic record.

We thoroughly review your evaluations by college pre-professional committees and letters of recommendation.

We pay special attention to letters from faculty with whom you’ve collaborated in scholarly pursuits and/or extracurricular activities.

We look for resourceful, creative people who are eager to challenge themselves and those who surround them.

We seek applicants who balance academic achievement with an abiding sense of personal discovery and a very deep commitment to serving others.

General Requirements

We consider currently enrolled students and graduates of accredited colleges for admission. Only under exceptional circumstances will you be considered with fewer than 120 hours of undergraduate work. Non United States citizens must hold a permanent resident visa (not conditional) or refugee/asylee status and have completed at least one full year of undergraduate education, including our prerequisites, in the United States.

In examining your candidacy, the admissions committee will consider:

Undergraduate, post baccalaureate, and graduate records

Current MCAT scores. (Valid for only three years. For more information, please visit: http://www.aamc.org)

Given that our interview season will conclude in March, 2008, there will be insufficient time to invite and schedule January MCAT takers for interviews for 2008 admission.  We look forward to considering those applicants for 2009.
