Person to Person:
Future Doctors
Start Here
From the very first day of medical school, our students wear the white coat of a physician and are treated as a peer. They understand that no two people, no matter how similar, will respond to medical care in exactly the same way. Thats why we never want you to forget that the patient is a person first. If you learn that, you will have learned the central point of why you are here, to help ease human suffering.
You can be you here. Our goal of training you as a future doctor is not to deprive you of your humanity, but to deepen your commitment to caring. That said, you must be you to succeed here. We emphasize teamwork and incorporate pass/fail evaluations to kindle a more sophisticated view of a common goal: for you to become the best doctor you can become, not just the top-ranked medical student in your class.
| The best way to find out about us is to find out about the types of students that enjoy studying here, living here, and working here. |

The issue of what kind of place I was going to spend the next four years in was every bit as important to me as the school itself. Pittsburgh immediately reminded me of my hometown, Providence, Rhode Island. Both cities are underratedtoo small to show up on some peoples radar but filled with all of these great microcosms and cultures...more |
