How to Give

Support from alumni and friends provides for the most immediate and crucial needs of the School of Medicine. Contributions at every level ensure that resources are available for day-to-day operations and scholarship support, thereby directly impacting the quality of education for present and future students.

School of Medicine alumni are the lifeblood of the annual fund, with contributions totaling nearly a half-million dollars each year. This level of participation is important to the school's educational resources. But increasing participation—both in terms of the number of alumni who contribute and the total dollars given—would ensure Pitt's position as an innovative institution and act as a catalyst for corporations, foundations, and other individuals to make their own gifts.

Please consider directing your gift/pledge to one of the following:

• Medical Student Scholarship Fund
• School of Medicine Research Fund (includes Biomedical Science Tower 3)
• Medical Alumni General Fund

All gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Giving Securities

The School of Medicine is pleased to accept gifts of stocks or bonds. You may receive special tax advantages by donating appreciated securities. Call our office (412-647-3048) for further instructions.

In Honor/In Memory Program

An honorary or memorial gift is a thoughtful way to recognize the accomplishments or memory of a colleague, friend, or relative. If you send the name of the person you wish to honor with your gift, we will notify the recipient or the recipient's family of your generosity.

Planned Giving

Planned gifts often take the form of stocks and securities, wills and estates, artwork, real estate, or other assets. Planned giving can be a powerful element of your wealth management strategy or estate planning process, and can be arranged to benefit the University while providing a life-long income source for spouses and other family members.

Matching Gifts

Many corporations will match employees’ personal donations. This additional support can double or even triple the value of your gift.
